Gmail Creator Bashes Chrome

Google has sent review units to media outlets, and is allowing users to sign up for the pilot program, wherein they're asked to provide feedback about the device and the operating system.

InformationWeek's Thomas Claburn wrote in his review of Chrome, "Chrome OS is impressive and promising software... At the same time, Google's vision for the cloud is lacking. The cloud may be where computing is headed, but that doesn't mean users should be disempowered. For Chrome OS to actually displace Mac OS or Windows devices, Google or some other entity will have to find a way to give users control over, and ownership of, their data in the cloud."

Would Android provide for a more robust mobile computing experience? Probably. Can Chrome survive long enough to actually succeed? Possibly. I am glad a company like Google is at least willing to take the chance on such a project. Even if Chrome fails, we all will have learned something about the way we want/need to compute.

  Opera company launched Mini browser  against Saipan platform

Obama, Biden make pitch for Strickland in Cleveland

CLEVELAND - Making his final campaign appearance before Tuesday's midterm elections, President Barack Obama came back to Ohio with Vice President Job Biden yesterday to make a final argument that Gov. Ted Strickland and other Democrats deserve to remain in power.

"In two days, you have the chance to set the direction of this country and this state," Obama said at the "Moving America Forward" rally.

The visit was Obama's 12th to Ohio since taking office and second in two weeks, following an Oct. 17 rally at Ohio State University. It was part of a final push to encourage Democratic turnout in a region critical to the re-election hopes of Strickland, who is locked in a tight race in the polls with Republican John Kasich.

Sony has slashed the UK price of its digital download-only handheld, the PSPgo, knocking a healthy £65 off the previous recommended retail price of £225.

Which means that, as of November 1, Sony's PSPgo will sell for £159.99 in the UK.

The price cut is clearly intended to boost sales of the handheld in the run-up to Christmas.

Sony(BP2s) is currently developing the PSP2, the true successor to the original PlayStation Portable, although there are still no confirmed plans on release dates, specification or overall strategy for that machine.

US Treasury Secretary Geithner to visit China

Mr Geithner is due to discuss bilateral economic issues with the Vice Premier, Wang Qishan, in the port of Qingdao.

US officials have said China is keeping the value of the yuan artificially low to make its exports more competitive. Beijing has rejected the allegation.

On Saturday, G20 finance ministers said they would refrain from such tactics.
